Comprehensive Neuropsychological Assessment
Dr. Roberts has extensive training and experience conducting comprehensive neuropsychological/cognitive evaluations for older adults. This type of evaluation is diagnostic and used to determine the possible underlying causes of cognitive lapses that negatively affect daily functioning, such as depression or anxiety, a medical problem, Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia, or other factors. The results of a neuropsychological evaluation are used to help you understand the cause of your cognitive difficulties, support care partners, create care plans, and provide recommendations to medical and mental health providers for treatment planning.
Neuropsychological evaluations include a medical records review, an interview with you and someone who knows you well, 3 – 5 hours of neuropsychological assessment covering multiple domains based on your concerns (attention, processing speed, verbal and visual memory, visuospatial function, executive function, motor function, psychological function, activities of daily living), report writing, and a feedback session.
Approximately 2-4 weeks after your evaluation, Dr. Roberts will meet with you and your care partner for a feedback session, in which you will receive the evaluation results, a diagnosis (when appropriate/warranted by the results), and recommendations specific to your needs and the evaluation outcomes. You will be provided with a copy of the detailed report during the feedback session that can be shared with family members or other professionals (such as physicians and attorneys).
Dr. Roberts is currently accepting clients for neuropsychological evaluation services. She accepts clients with Medicare, insurance, and private pay. It is the client’s responsibility to confirm whether services are covered by their insurance plan.
SERVICES
Memory Clinic - Basic Cognitive Screens
Research shows that cognitive function, particularly memory, peaks in our mid-20s and steadily declines with age. Though they can be frustrating, not all cognitive lapses indicate something is wrong. Dr. Roberts conducts basic cognitive screens for adults to determine whether cognitive difficulties are typical for one’s age or are signs of other, more serious, concerns.
Basic cognitive screens consist of an interview and brief 1-hour assessment with same-day feedback, including a review of the results and recommendations. A two-page written summary of the results will be provided. Basic cognitive screens are not diagnostic, meaning you will learn whether your current cognitive function is typical for your age, though less information is provided on what might be the cause of any problems found. This brief evaluation is best for people with mild memory/cognitive difficulties and minimal trouble with daily activities. When basic cognitive screens are conducted regularly (every 1-3 years), the results can be used to track cognitive changes over time.
