About Dr. Jennifer Roberts
Jennifer Roberts, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist in Utah. She specializes in geropsychology and cognitive assessment for older adults. In all aspects of her practice, Dr. Roberts implements person-centered and values-based approaches intended to improve the well-being of older adults and their families.
Dr. Jennifer Roberts has worked with older adults since college (B.A. in psychology with a minor in gerontology). She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in geropsychology from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS). Her graduate training included rotations in a memory clinic, on a neuropsychological assessment team, and with adults over 50 in community mental health centers, a primary care behavioral health center, and a home-based behavioral health service.
Dr. Roberts completed her pre-doctoral internship/residency at the Salt Lake City Veteran’s Affairs Healthcare System (SLC VA) with major rotations in neuropsychology and outpatient behavioral health, and minor rotations in neurology, rehabilitation psychology with brain injury and stroke patients at the University of Utah Craig H. Neilsen Rehabilitation Hospital, couple’s therapy, outpatient substance abuse treatment, and chronic pain primary care mental health integration services.
After completing her Ph.D., Dr. Roberts completed a year of post-doctoral experience as a licensed Staff Psychologist at the SLC VA, which included full-time provision of individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, and comprehensive neuropsychological assessments for adults reporting concerns with cognitive function. While at the VA, Dr. Roberts also completed certification in Cognitive Processing Therapy (for PTSD), provided didactic training to interns, and served as a member of the Psychology Department Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee.
In addition to running her private practice in psychology, Dr. Roberts is a lecturer for the Psychology Department at UCCS. She teaches courses on the Psychology of Aging, Abnormal Psychology, and Advanced Topics in Abnormal Psychology. Dr. Roberts’ research is focused on the social and cognitive aspects of aging. Her non-clinical professional experience includes presenting research at national conferences, speaking about mental health and aging by invitation in various community settings, and volunteer work with the Alzheimer’s Association. Dr. Roberts also has several research articles published in professional journals.
