How do I know if my insurance will cover assessment or psychotherapy services?
It is recommended that you contact your insurance provider to verify whether you have coverage for outpatient assessment or mental (behavioral) health services. Clients are responsible for payment of the deductible portion of their bill. It is recommended that you contact your insurance provider before initiating treatment to determine eligibility for services and inquire about your payment obligations. Some questions to ask your insurance carrier include:
Do I have mental health benefits for assessment and/or treatment?
Do I have a deductible, and has it been met?
What is my copay/client responsibility portion of the payment?
What types of assessments will my plan cover per calendar year? How many psychotherapy sessions will my plan cover per year?
What are the fees for service if I cannot or choose not to use insurance?
